For years when we talked about adoption we always came to the same conclusion...
"there is NO WAY we could afford it"
It was an obstacle that prevented us from moving past just talking about adoption for many, many years!
But...God used our lack of faith to bring us to the beautiful child that HE had planned for us. During those many years I had read all about others with the same hold up who had taken the leap of faith and God provided each penny needed to bring their child or children home. And, while it is great to read of other experiences, it is just not quite the same as LIVING it.
Over the last 17 months God used many people & many organizations to fulfill His promise to us & to Christabel.
"Nothing is impossible with God" Luke 1:37
"I will not leave you as orphans, I will come for you" John 14:18
At the begining of this journey when we saw the number $44,000 we could not fathom where this money would come from...but with lots of prayer & blind faith we just kept putting one foot in front of the other and left that number at the feet of the One who had made it clear that Christabel was our daughter.
We began the journey with only enough saved to pay for the application fee & the homestudy. As each month passed & each fee became due we marveled at how we had just what was needed, just when it was needed! [this was just like all those adoption journeys I had read about during those many, many years!] Clearly my faith is strengthened by sight & I am thankful that God knows this about me & extends mercy & grace while daily proving His faithfulness to me!
Shortly before our finally trip we found out that we had been awarded a 0% interest adoption loan. This loan would put us just over what we needed for our final trip to bring Christabel home. We have 18 months to pay it back...so we figured we would continue being faithful and leave the details up to God.
Then...a small group from our church approched us and said they wanted to host a fundraiser to support our adoption!! This Saturday, February 21st, there will be a Pancake Breakfast at Evergreen Ministries in Hudsonville from 8am to 11am!! [there will be gluten free options too]
We want to encourage anyone who has ever thought about adoption and said "there is NO WAY we could afford it" to come talk to us.
